Who is Stella & Dot?
We are an eight-year-old company with the mission of providing women the means to style their own lives. We design and sell irresistible jewellery at accessible price points that range from £20 - £220. The jewellery is not sold through retail stores, but rather through an incredible community of entrepreneurial-spirited women, known as Stella & Dot Stylists. Over 12,000 active sellers globally and growing strong, our Stylists have created their own Stella & Dot businesses selling jewellery to women at in-home Trunk Shows, online and/or through the use of social networking platforms. We at Stella & Dot envision a world where strong women live bold and joyful lives.
Tell me about Stella & Dot style
We produce two major collections each Spring and Fall. We also unveil capsule collections for the summer and Christmas seasons. Limited edition and one-of-a-kind collections launch each month as well. Top jewellery designers who have previously worked with Marc Jacobs, Coach and other coveted brands design our jewellery. We travel the world to work with the best production partners out there and are socially responsible, with people on the ground in each location our jewellery is made. Quality is of utmost importance, starting with the product itself and throughout the entire customer experience. Pieces are versatile, easy to wardrobe, stylish and affordable.
What's the company culture like?
We are passionate about our success and we do whatever it takes. We invest our hearts, our smarts and our unbending will to make success happen.
How big is the market for jewellery and accessories? Why Trunk Shows?
We provide the ultimate personal shopping experience that simply can't be found in a retail environment. No glass cases, no asking to try anything on. Each Stylist has a very portable sample display that sets up completely within 10 minutes. Trunk Show guests can pick up the pieces, try them on, and get honest feedback from friends – all while enjoying time with friends. Our philosophy is - we're not in sales, we're in personal shopping service. We simply have fun, casual gatherings where we share style tips. There's never any pressure to buy – it's all up to the customer.
What does it mean to be a Stylist?
Stylists represent our line of accessories and sell them at in-home Trunk Shows and online. The jewellery is absolutely irresistible and affordable, which makes selling it easy. In fact, just by wearing it, you'll find yourself accepting compliments, along with 'on the go' orders. As a Stella & Dot Stylist, you may choose to work only a few hours a week, or grow your business to a full time endeavour. As with all legitimate businesses, effort determines success.
How much can I earn?
Stylists earn 25%-30% of their personal sales. The average Trunk Show total is around £900 retail (including VAT), earning the Stylist (on average) £225 for about four hours of work. Stylists who choose to build a team can earn even more through lucrative coaching commissions. Stylist Testimonials
Can you tell me more about the compensation plan?
In addition to regular sales commission, we also offer volume rebates, savings on jewellery through our Jump Start program, monthly jewellery incentives, business supply credits and coaching commission
How does the e-commerce aspect of the business work?
Stella & Dot is revolutionising the home-based business, providing each Stylist with her own personal e-commerce site, e-marketing templates, and much more. The Head Office team lays the groundwork – sending emails to customers, updating the Facebook fan page on a daily basis and producing style videos.
Can I be successful doing this?
This is a business that works when you do, even if your work is based on your own pace and schedule. It's a true efforts in equals results out business. Most of our Stylists have no previous sales experience. Part or full time, it's up to you. All that's required is the desire to do in-home Trunk Shows. We'll be there to motivate, train, and support you, every step of the way!
Is this opportunity for everyone?
It is for most people that genuinely love the product and want to do in-home Trunk Shows. You can build a business that suits your own needs and lifestyle. There are some Stylists who do one Trunk Show a month and earn a few hundred pounds for their family. Other Stylists treat this opportunity like a full-time career and are building a six-figure income in the process. There are also a wide range of Stylists who fall somewhere in the middle. If you just want great jewellery for less, be a Hostess. If you want to earn money by wearing and sharing the style, be a Stylist.
How much does the average Stylist spend to get started? How long will it take to be profitable?
Order the £169 Starter Kit from our website, which comes with over £300 in jewellery sample credits, marketing materials and access to training. After you order your Starter Kit, you can purchase additional samples at half price, following a statutory 7-day 'cooling off period.'. Most new Stylists invest another £300-£500 to create their display. You'll earn back your investment after just two Trunk Shows. Plus, our fabulous Jump Start programme allows you to earn £1000's in savings on more jewellery purchases in your first 60 days as a Stylist. You simply need to book 4 to 6 shows in 4 to 6 weeks to get your business off the ground.
How do I get started booking Trunk Shows?
All Stylists wonder how they'll get started. No one is born knowing how to book a Trunk Show - that's why we provide all the necessary training, programs and materials. Your first few Trunk Shows will be booked with close friends, and will quickly expand to other networks. Our company paid, generous Hostess Rewards program makes booking shows easy - the average Hostess receives £200 in savings on jewellery and up to 4 items at 40% off.
How many hours do I need to work?
That depends on how much you want to earn. If you're happy doing one Trunk Show a month, you may only need to work an average of 5 hours a week or less, including the hours that you're actually at the Trunk Show. Those with higher financial goals may choose to increase their hours to 10, 20, 30 hours per week - or even a full time, 40 hour work week. It's important to remember that our mission is to provide a great income that can be balanced with personal life. The amount of time you spend working is up to you.
Are there quotas? How flexible is the job?
There are no sales quotas and no geographic regions. This means you can sell whenever and wherever you want (within the UK)! There are only sales requirements if you decide you want to build a team, mentor others to success and earn income from their sales. We want our leaders to be active in the field, so we do require all of our leaders to meet certain sales requirements in order to receive coaching commissions.
Do I need to have inventory on hand?
We handle inventory and delivery for you, so no inventory, deliveries or credit card processing fees are required and you'll be paid weekly.
What kind of training and marketing support is offered?
The Head Office is here to support our Stylists. Stella & Dot requires none of the overhead that typically comes with owning your own business. We produce all of the marketing materials, from Look Books and display pieces, to our top notch training guide and the online Stella & Dot University, as well as business-building focused events. All this, plus our incredible Stylist community, made up of women who are passionate about what they do and provide an instant support network. It may be your own business, but you definitely won't be in it alone.
Who works for me in the Head Office?
At Stella & Dot we hire ahead of the curve. The Head Office team is comprised of brand missionaries who are passionate innovators with expert knowledge in running billion dollar businesses
What is the career path beyond personal sales? Do I have to build a team?
If you want to go beyond personal sales, you can choose to layer your income by building a team. A lot of opportunities have glass ceilings. That's because in a corporation with traditional management roles, there is often a necessary trade off between flexibility and responsibility and compensation. But when you own and run your own business, these barriers go away. Our compensation plan was created to be an endless opportunity where you control your own pace. You can choose to keep it part-time and flexible, but know that you are still building value in a business that has unlimited upside! That means when your life changes, or if you have more time because your kids are in school more, you can turn it on when you're ready and grow beyond just personal sales.
